The Chamber of Commerce of Amsterdam, the regional representative organisation for the private business sector, is the country's largest Chamber with over 200,000 companies on its register. The Chamber takes all steps within its power to maintain and stimulate the robust economic health of the Amsterdam region. The Chamber’s accumulated knowledge, contacts and partnerships make it the essential reference point for every firm doing or seeking to do business in the Amsterdam region.
Specific sectors, including the creative industry, demand extra attention: this explains the involvement of the Chamber of Commerce in the international Crossmedia Week / Picnic, which is considered the international networking event in the creative sector.
The Chamber of Commerce also launched an exploratory study, in mid 2006, of development opportunities for the advertising sector. In addition, the Chamber of Commerce also actively participates in the ‘Creative Axis’ (Creatieve As), which is aimed at, among other things, the establishment of a development company for the creative sector. The Chamber of Commerce also supported the establishment of the Amsterdam Innovation Motor (AIM) in 2006 and Creative Cities Amsterdam Area (CCAA) in 2007.
