The municipality of Amersfoort

The mayor and the municipal council have embedded their ambitions in the field of innovation in the Innovatieprogramma Amersfoort 2008-2011 (2008-2011 Amersfoort Innovation Programme). The primary purpose of this programme is to stimulate innovative, knowledge-intensive and creative enterprise (commercial services, ICT and the creative industry). The fact that these enterprises serve a facilitating function in the economy means that they also have a stimulating effect on the economy as a whole.

The municipality collaborated closely in the initiative with partners in commerce and industry, as well as in knowledge and educational institutions. The partnerships operate at city, as well as at regional level. With initiatives such as Dutch Game Factory and Groeilink, the Noordvleugel of the Randstad region offers substantial opportunities for more effective and efficient cooperation in the field of innovation.

Amersfoort wishes to consolidate and expand the interaction with Utrecht and the rest of the Noordvleugel. This is an important reason for Amersfoort’s cooperation with the CCAA.
