The Province of Utrecht is working on a balanced and varied portfolio of arts, high-quality information provision via the media and libraries, and through the active participation of the entire local population in art and culture. The province also invests effort and resources in the conservation of its cultural heritage and monuments. This includes a wide range of tourism products for the benefit of both the local population and visitors to the region.
The province will draw up an integral Culture and Economy programme in 2008 to secure the consolidation of creativity in enterprise, as well as the economic spin-offs of the cultural activities in the province. The launch of the aforementioned programme was preceded in 2007 by a number of projects, including the Biennale and the Kunstgras event. The programme will also include projects with a more physical character. This means that the province is also working hard to inject economic value into buildings with culture-historical value. In 2008, the province will also launch the Utrecht FabLab project.
The Province of Utrecht is participating in CCAA because it wishes to invest in the present and future creative industry in the region.
