Xynix Opera

Since the establishment of the foundation, in 1994, XX has assumed a unique position in the supply of stage arts available in the Netherlands.

XX puts up an average of three productions per season: Two travelling shows and one opera on location. XX does both open shows and closed school performances in theatres across the Netherlands. The key drivers of XX are Joke Hoolboom (director) and Niek Idelenburg (musical director).

In 2005, the municipality of the city of Amersfoort decided to appoint XX as the city troupe of Amersfoort. XX will soon make its home in the Veerensmederij building. This beautiful, albeit ruinous building is situated directly behind the Amersfoort Central Station. The municipality will give the start signal for the renovation of the building in September 2008. When XX occupies the new home theatre in the Veerensmederij in Amersfoort, it will also become the first youth opera in the Netherlands.
