Born in Amsterdam, Ruud Hendriks is one of the co-founders of the multimedia broadcaster, Het Gesprek (The Talk). Hendriks started out as a tape editor at NOS Studio Sport and subsequently became Programme Director at RTL Netherlands, a director of NBC Super Channel, and he was also a member of the board of Endemol. That was when the big (commercial) winds of change blew in: In April 2007, Hendriks, Frits Barend and Derk Sauer decided that it was time to make an end to the airy fairy television chats. It was time to start a broadcaster where it would be possible to find the time and space to go deeper into the discussion: The Talk, in other words. The channel became an alternative to the rushed approach of commercial television.
