Company name:
MTV Networks Europe.

Company founding date:
1986 in the Netherlands – kicked off by Elton John in The Roxy, apparently.

Place of business:
NDSM Werf, Amsterdam.

Names of founders:
Viacom.

About the company:
MTV Networks Netherlands is a market leader in music & youth programming and our premier brands are MTV, TMF, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon. Watched by over 7 million households in the Netherlands and by 561 million households in 162 countries (in 33 languages) the company’s influence is far and wide.

Current project:
As well as our regular throughflow of graphic packages and promos we are specifically working on the 2009 TMF Awards, Valtifest with Meubel Stukken, a Comedy Central brand campaign and the brand positioning of ‘Extreeme’, the latest theatrical collaboration with REP, following the success of ‘Romeo Over Julia’. We're also steering the first ever global rebrand for MTV, due to launch later this year.

Source of inspiration:
For me, I tend to find ‘it’ whilst on my bike, or when I’m not in Holland I’ll go and look for it up a mountain.

My big idea:
Moving Amsterdam nearer the equator.

Favourite tools:
Moleskine and uni-ball eye/fine/black.

Favourite website:
www.universaleverything.com
www.ffffound.com
www.dolectures.com

Hobby:
Fulfillment whether that’s found at work or play.

Best advice I ever received:
Live large, dream small /Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups/never fill in ‘those questionnaires that make you sound like a dick/and on a more practical level ‘get into work before everyone and leave after everyone’.

Biggest blunder:
Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups…

Tips for professional colleagues:
Go with ‘the gut’.

As an ambassador of Amsterdam, I would...
...point out to as many people as possible (especially design snobs from London) that Amsterdam really gets it right on so many fronts.
