Marlies Dekkers is a Dutch fashion designer that made her international breakthrough in 1993 with a lingerie line known as Undressed.
The Undressed line is viewed internationally as a trailblazing, trendsetting and innovative concept thanks to the unique perspective from which it derives: A woman does not need to look like a prettily packaged piece confectionary, all wrapped up in ribbons and lace.
In Dekker’s designs, the traditionally romantic ribbons and lace make room for potent orchestrations of line, layer and subtle cutouts that spring up in unexpected places. In addition, each new collection has its own inspiring ‘narrative history’, in which (fine) art, literature, film, photography and philosophy serve as recurring sources of inspiration for this imaginative designer.
