Jan Jansen Shoes

Jan Jansen is one of the most highly acclaimed footwear designers in the Netherlands. Jansen began designing shoes for men and women in the 60s.

From the very beginning of his career, in the 60s, Jan Jansen has proven himself to be a world-class designer of stylish footwear. His designs regularly feature in international publications on contemporary shoe designs: from the couture shoes he created in the sixties for the Dutch avant-garde to the revolutionary floating heel he designed in 1989.

Jan Jansen’s shoes are widely appreciated for the pure symphony of form, line, material use and finish encapsulated in every new creation. His designs manifest a titillating mix of creative tension, deviant form and unexpected texture. The coherence between last, sole and heel is always truly novel and unique. Jansen has rightfully earned the title of ‘godfather of the platform sole’. Another famous shoe from the hands of this master designer is the high-heeled Bamboo platform shoe, which features in the permanent collection of the New York Metropolitan Museum.

Jan Jansen has worked for a number of different shoe manufacturers and is renowned throughout the world as a footwear designer par excellence. His name, and photographs of his designs, also regularly feature in all the major footwear publications. Jan Jansen has more constructions on his name than any other colleague designer in the world.
