Holland Animation Film Festival

The Holland Animation Film Festival (HAFF) is the only major animation film festival in the Netherlands and is in the same class as some of the most important animation film festivals in the world, such as Annecy, Hiroshima and Ottawa.

Among other things, the biannual, international festival organises competitions for short animation films, student films from the Netherlands and Belgium, and commissioned animated films.

The Twelfth International Holland Animation Film Festival will be held from 5 through 9 November 2008. During the five days of the festival, visitors will be able to focus on international animation films at various festival locations in the historical city centre of the city of Utrecht (in Filmtheater 't Hoogt, Camera/Studio and Theater Kikker).

The festival is an important platform for independent artistic short animation films. The festival shows the newest short animation films from around the world, as well as commercials, information films, video clips and student films from the Netherlands and Belgium on the big screen. In addition, it also holds school shows, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and talk shows at a number of different locations. Some of the events of the forthcoming festival programme include competitions, retrospectives and other special programmes, games, sfx/vfx, Japanese and Chinese animation films, and a number of feature films.
