G-Star

G-Star is a Dutch company that designs, produces and sells clothing.

The G-Star label was created in Amsterdam in 1989 under the initial name, Gap-Star; however, that name was subsequently changed to G-Star to focus the company’s sales activities on the international market. The original company produced jeans for the Dutch and Belgian markets. In 1991, G-Star signed a partnership deal with the French jeans designer, Pierre Morisset. Among other things, the partnership resulted in the introduction, in 1996, of the G-Star Elwood, the jean design that heralded the big breakthrough for G-Star.

G-Star currently has 28 offices in 17 countries, 88 showrooms and 5,165 sales points in more than 62 countries. In October 2007 there were some 94 operational G-Star monobrand stores around the world. Most of the manufacturing operations for G-Star take place in India.
