CASla

Architect’s centre CASLa is a foundation that was established in 1996 as an initiative of the Almere Municipality. The abbreviation, CASLa, stands for the Dutch name, Centrum voor Architectuur, Stedenbouw en Landschap van Almere (Centre for Architecture, Urban Development and Landscape of Almere).

CASLa fulfils the mission underlying its name by making a growing contribution to the image of Almere, which is associated with architectonic quality, architectonic experiment, and dynamic and urban allure.

This contribution consists of the organisation of a wide range of public activities, ranging from events, exhibitions, guided tours, quizzes, debates and seminars to classes in architecture and building studios for children.

Finally, CASLa also participates in important forums dealing with issues in urban development and architecture. In only a few years, the centre has developed into an independent organisation that plays a central role in the discussion of a wide spectrum of themes in its target area.

The core function of CASLa is to translate knowledge into activities, products and services that reach out to both the public and professional specialists. For that reason, CASLa organises low threshold public activities on the one hand and projects and activities for building contractors and specialists with knowledge and experience that demand a higher level of substantive professional quality.
