Frans Willigers started his career as an architect and worked for companies as Kho Liang Ie Associates in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) and Studio Hunziker in Lugano (Switzerland). After having dealt with all aspects of designing spaces, he decided to focus on designs fit for those spaces, such as his Felten Chair. Next to his job as a designer Willigers is a teacher at the Rietveld Academy.
