Profile: Michiel Klonhammer

Michiel Klonhammer is the director of ICATT Interactive Media, a full-service interactive agency (eEurope Award, Gouden Apenstaart and WebOlympics Award). In addition to his love for all things interactive, he also loves to cook. 'The Dutch don't have a cuisine, they have food', is how is Klonhammer summarizes Dutch cuisine. It was this passion that drove him and Manon Sikkel to develop a new vision of the traditional Dutch cuisine at Oerhollands.

About the company:
ICATT Interactive Media is a full-service interactive agency. We design and develop interactive concepts, and offer consultancy services for private companies, as well as for public service organisations. We have an amazing work environment, which is great for our principals. We still love our work after 15 years!

Current project:
Relocation, a new site for Denksport, email marketing for the Dutch Department of Justice, an e-learning module for the Ministry of Social Welfare and Sports (VWS), various websites for ThiemeMeulenhoff, Dashboards for STORK, an opening by Maxima, relocation...

Source of inspiration:
My two ladies: Manon Sikkel and Hanneke van der Horst

My big idea:
Doing business without being completely antisocial.

Favourite tools:
DeWalt tools and Snagit

Favourite website:
Today’s favourite was Last.fm.

Hobby:
Cooking!

Best advice I ever received:
Ignoring the advice not to form a company that would employ designers as well as programmers.

Biggest blunder:
Wasting too much time on a customer that failed to honour his agreements.

Tips for professional colleagues:
Daring to say goodbye to customers that do not do good work.

As an ambassador of Amsterdam, I would...
Set up a municipal website for business accommodation that would keep estate agents out completely. Provide accommodation support for developing companies. Prices are driven up by the unreasonable position held by the estate agents, as a result of which creative companies are all but driven out. I would also get the municipality to subsidise small creative congresses.
